2024 Papakunsha Ekadashi - Papankusha Ekadashi is an auspicious Hindu fasting day that comes on the ‘Ekadashi’ (11th day) of the Shukla Paksha (the waxing phase of moon) during the lunar month of ‘Ashwin’ as per the Hindu calendar. Due to this reason, this Ekadashi is also known as ‘Ashwina-Shukla Ekadashi’. As per the Gregorian calendar, it falls between the months of September - October. The Papankusha Ekadashi is devoted to Lord Padmanabha, an incarnation of God Vishnu. On this Ekadashi, followers worship Lord Padmanabha with complete devotion and zeal. By keeping the fast on Papankusha Ekadashi Vrat, the followers will be bestowed with the blessings of Lord Padmanabha and will enjoy all the success of this world.
Papankusha Ekadashi is believed to be one of the most significant Ekadashi as the person who takes a fast on this day is blessed with good health, wealth and all otherworldly luxuries. It is also believed that without taking fast on the Papankusha Ekadashi Vrat, an individual can never be liberated from his sins and their evil action will keep chasing them throughout their life. The merits of this sacred Vrat are equal to performing 100 Surya Yagya or 1000 Ashwamedha Yagya.

Hindu devotees keep a strict fast or silence vow on this day. The followers of this fast must wake up early and wear clean clothes after taking an early bath. The fasting ritual of this Ekadashi begins on the 10th day, ‘Dashami’. On this day a single ‘Saatvik’ meal is eaten before sunset and the fasting continues till the end of Ekadashi. While keeping the vrat, the followers must not speak lies or committ any sinful acts or deeds. This Ekadashi Vrat ends on the ‘Dwadashi’ (12th day). The followers must offer food and some sort of donations to a Brahmin before breaking the fast.
The followers of this fast should not sleep at all during the day and night. They should spend their time reading and chanting Vedic mantras and bhajans in the praise of Lord Vishnu. Reciting ‘Vishnu Sahasranam’ is also considered to be very fruitful. Consult India’s best astrologer at Astroswamig and 100% driven results for your concern.
On this Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu is prayed as per the ‘Archana Vidhi’. On this day the form of Lord Vishnu seated on ‘Garur’ is prayed with immense dedication. The ‘Padmanabha’ form of Sri Hari is worshipped and offered flowers, betel leaves, diyas and incense sticks. At the end of puja rituals, an aarti is chanted.
Donating and charity on the day of Papankusha Ekadashi is also very rewarding. If a person cannot keep a fast, they can donate clothes, foods and other essentials to the Brahmins and achieve the same blessings. Some people also organize ‘Brahman Bhoj’ on this Ekadashi. It is believed that people who offer charity on this day will never reach Hell, the abode of Lord Yamraja, after death.
